Relive the Magic of Sunset Music Festival 2022

Memorial Day signals one of the first busy weekends of Summer – accented by soaring temperatures and multi-festival weekends kicking off around the country. While Lightning in a Bottle bloomed to life on the West Coast, and Movement reinvigorated Detroit’s status as one of the top house and techno cities in America, Sunset Music Festival held it down for the Southeast and had one if its most successful weekends to date.

Hosted in Tampa, Florida each May, ‘SMF’ has become a signal for festival goers that Spring is shifting into Summer season. Just before Florida’s humidity fully sets in, Sunset hosts some of the electronic scene’s biggest names each year at the home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers football team, Raymond James Stadium.

Despite competing for the first time with Skyline Orlando, a new house and techno festival just down the road, SMF brought in one of its most stacked lineups and consistent crowds all weekend. Leading the bill were heavy hitters like ILLENIUM, Zeds Dead, Liquid Stranger, Tchami, and Oliver Heldens, followed up by an equally buzzing and strong undercard.

Former MP3 cover artists LP Giobbi, Mersiv, and Wreckno all played to packed out crowds, while two of the hottest acts in electronic music, John Summit and Dom Dolla, played consecutively on the main stage Saturday.

While SMF lived up to its reputation of being a hot rave in a heat-baked parking lot, organizers made sure the venue was stocked with numerous water stations, plethora of vendors and cool down areas, in addition to extensive structures that served as both art and shade.
