GRiZ Announces Indefinite Hiatus in Emotional Instagram Post

Earlier today, beloved dubstep and electro-funk powerhouse, GRiZ, announced that he’ll be playing his last show for the foreseeable future this October, which will be announced later this week.

According to a recent Instagram post, which included a heartfelt letter to his fans detailing his reason for the sudden (although, according to GRiZ, not so sudden) announcement amidst the height of his music career, he simply wants to shift his focus away from his career and towards his friends, family and loved ones.

Considering GRiZ’s emphasis on mental health, whether it’s a lovely, encouraging note to his fans via social media, or his charitable donations to organizations like HeadCount and To Write Love on Her Arms through events like his annual GRiZmas celebration, we’re glad to see he’s living what he preaches: mental health ALWAYS comes first.

So, GRiZ’s curated events, including the aforementioned GRiZMAScelebration, and Space Camp are officially canceled in 2023. But, there are still quite a few opportunities to catch a proper GRiZ set before he takes an extended vacation. Most notably, he’ll be playing in Wilmington, NC for GRiZMAS in July, and headlines two nights at Meow Wolf’s Vortex Festival in Denver, CO this August.

This doesn’t mean GRiZ won’t stay busy during his time away from the spotlight. Quite the opposite — he’ll be soaking up life however he sees fit: traveling the world, seeking fresh inspiration, and definitely writing new music.

It’s unclear when or if GRiZ will return to the stage after his final show in October, which he says will be “at an intimate venue in a beautiful location” that he’s has wanted to perform at for quite a while now.

Until then, stay tuned for the official announcement, coming later this week, and definitely catch GRiZ at his remaining performances between now and October.
