Jadū Dala: The Rise of the Magical Music Outfit [Label Feature]

Jadū Dala record label founders and good friends, Jesse Babini and Nathaniel Kosko, had absolutely no idea who Kumarion was when they first listened to his hot and heavy hit, “Want It.” They did know, however, that they had something really special.

Together, Jadū Dala and Kumarion released the song last February. 2 million-plus Spotify streams later, “Want It” was a contender for one of the top bass tracks of the year.

Ultimately, the track brought acclaim to both artist and label, increasing the profile of this magical music outfit. ‘Jadū’ means ‘magic,’ in Hindi, while ‘Dala’ is Bengali for ‘gang/outfit/crew.’ We take a look at the history of Jadū Dala, its biggest releases, and some of its brightest moments.

“We thought they had a nice ring when said together. That’s why we call ourselves, ‘Jadu Dala: The Magical Music Outfit.'” – Jesse Babini and Nathaniel Kosko.

Where It Began

Born in Kosko and Babini’s Philadelphia living room in May 2016, Jadū Dala began as a music collective. The goal? To highlight underground artists around the world while releasing vibrant EDM that strayed from the norm of mainstream labels.

“We needed to give artists a reason to trust us,” the duo told MP3 MAG. “So we gathered tracks, crafted some artwork, and started releasing music.”

In 2017, Jadu Dala gained the attention of Vancouver producer Cozway and later released his track, “Windbreaker.” It was a hit, and the label’s first taste of success.

“We want to become a recognized and respected home for innovative electronic music,” Babini and Kosko said. “We want to bring people together.”

All About the Music

From Santiago, Chile’s RED FINGERS, to California’s rising bass monster, STUCA, Jadu Dala strives to share fun and eclectic EDM from every corner of the world.

The founders were inspired by acts like Diplo, Baauer, RL Grime, and Cashmere Cat, artists pushing all kinds of dance music and not put a genre barrier on it. As far as labels, Jadū cites Moving Castle, Mad Decent, Activia Benz, and Soulection as influences.
