MP3 PREP: 5 Must-See Sets at Electric Forest 2024

As the festival season charges full steam ahead, the preparation for each event becomes a task in itself. Welcome to MP3 PREP, your ultimate guide to navigating the pulsating world of music festivals. Here’s what you need to know about some of the highly-anticipated performances at Electric Forest this year.

Returning to Rothbury, Michigan on June 20-23, Electric Forest transports festival-goers to the magical realm of Sherwood Forest.

Electric Forest is known for providing an enchanting experience beyond musical performances, but the lineup sports impressive names that are just as exciting. The festival offers a wide range of genres both in and out of electronic dance music. So, here are five acts you won’t want to miss:

1. LSZEE

LSDREAM and CloZee are debuting their collaborative project LSZEE for the first time at Electric Forest this year. The musical masterminds are composing a joint album containing about 20 original songs. Their live set will weave their new collabs in with LSZEE remixes of their favorite tunes. The much-anticipated album and performance have been years in the making. The duo plans to announce the first singles on their album very soon.

2. CANNONS

Along with top electronic acts, Electric Forest has booked several talented bands, including CANNONS. The Los Angeles-based trio has a cinematic sound that captivates fans. Their popular song, “Fire for You” perfectly showcases singer Michelle Joy’s dreamy vocals and the band’s soothing instrumentals. The group is currently on tour and is part of several major festival lineups, including Lightning in a Bottle and Austin City Limits.

3. Levity

The Chicago-based trio Levity is returning to Electric Forest for the first time as an official act on the festival’s lineup. The bass-focused group made waves in the music scene after filling in for a last-minute performance on the Honeycomb stage in 2023. The special set went viral and helped launch the success they’re seeing today. Two members of the group, PJ Carberry and John Hauldren, recently sat down with MP3 MAG ahead of their return to Sherwood Forest. They said they’re excited to experience the full circle moment on stage at their favorite festival.

4. Whyte Fang

Popular singer and producer Alison Wonderland is bringing her alias Whyte Fang to the Forest this year. Hailed as an international star in electronic music’s trap and bass genres, the artist explores a new realm of darker sounds in this alter-ego project. Whyte Fang debuted her first headline show in the fall of 2022. Now, she’s bringing her captivating beats and digital phantom persona to big festivals such as Electric Forest and Bonnaroo.

5. LP Giobbi

A creator of light-hearted house beats and a talented pianist, LP Giobbi infuses happiness and love into every set she performs. Witnessing the producer weave her live piano skills with dance music is a guaranteed good time. But the “one-woman jam band” is also on a more serious mission. She works to uplift other female producers and LGBTQ artists through her nonprofit FEMME HOUSE. The organization aims to “foster more equitable opportunity for women and gender-expansive individuals in music.”
