MP3 TAKES: Electric Forest 2024 Brought Surprise B2B2B2B Sets, Rainstorms, and a Caring Festival Community

Electric Forest is an immersive experience that wows attendees beyond the incredible music performances. Lovers of the art and music festival are fond of the phrase, “the forest provides.”
Witnessing the magic come alive among the trees firsthand, we can confirm it truly does.
From interactive art installations to larger-than-life performers, there is something new to discover around every corner. The sheer love and effort infused into every experience sets Electric Forest apart from other festivals. With the incredible highs and legendary acts came some lows. So, let’s dive into four major takeaways from Electric Forest 2024.
Surprise Sets and Mega Back-to-Back Sets
If there’s one thing Electric Forest is known for, it’s the element of surprise.
You never know what unexpected performances you could stumble upon in the forest. On Thursday night, fans enjoyed an intimate party at the Grand Artique when Levity, Super Future, and It’s Murph appeared on stage for a surprise set. On Sunday, LP Giobbi and Big Gigantic were spotted jamming together on the piano in the forest.

Plus, the official Debussy Bus and Evol afterparties are always a fun guessing game. Zingara and ALLEYCVT graced the Evol stage for their first-ever B2B.
The final night closed out the festival with a mega B2B featuring “Big Levity and Friends.” The closing party on stage included Levity, Big Gigantic, Zingara, Inzo, Super Future, It’s Murph, Ayybo, and Wiley.
A Kind and Caring Crowd
Despite negative comments online, we witnessed people spreading love and kindness throughout the crowd and in the campgrounds daily. A big part of, “the forest provides” mantra is people caring for one another.
From strangers helping others look for lost items, to people saying “excuse me” in the crowd, and an immeasurable number of gifts exchanged between new friends; the support among festival-goers was notable this year.
Strangers creating safe spaces for each other and offering a lending hand is imperative for a successful festival. Most Electric Forest attendees did just that, even when faced with challenges like bad weather and long lines.
Inclement Weather and Cancellations
The heat and humidity during the first few days of the festival made it hard to stay hydrated and cool in the crowds. The main stages offered little shade but more canopies were installed at the Tripolee stage this year. The forest provided much-needed shade and cooler temperatures under the trees.
Plus, vendors were passing out free electrolyte drink samples. Vendors, take notes!
After the extreme heat came extreme thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday. Even though the lightning and high winds led to set cancellations, fans and artists didn’t let the circumstances rain on their parades.
On Saturday night, the festival grounds reopened just in time for major acts like Subtronics, LSZEE, and John Summit. However, Saturday night afterparties were canceled due to the conditions. While Sunday unfortunately ended earlier than anticipated, thousands descended on the Evol afterparty to close out the festival with a bang.

Family members and friends of a festival attendee named Lex have confirmed he passed away while on vacation to attend Electric Forest. It’s unclear what led up to this tragic loss of life and officials have not confirmed the death, but he allegedly died after being taken to the hospital from the festival grounds. Many people also reported they witnessed several people suffer medical emergencies while at the Sunday afterparty. The DJs stopped their set and displayed messages on screen to make way for the medics as they struggled to get through the crowds.
The tragic death of a fan is a solemn reminder of the importance of attendee preparedness and an event’s responsibility to maintain safety.
As attendees, it is our duty to take precautions and prepare for potential hazards, such as extreme heat or dehydration, and seek medical attention when needed. It is always important to look out for yourself and your friends no matter what.
Festival organizers like Insomniac also have a responsibility to be informative and transparent about incidents that occur. Electric Forest had numerous medical tents and ample staff stationed throughout the festival grounds. However, outside of the festival, many fans noted there was not a medical tent in the afterparty area of the campgrounds. Many witnesses of the alleged overdoses are now suggesting Electric Forest should place a medical tent in the afterparty area.
