In the modern era, distribution services push out over 60,000 new tracks every single day. How do you cut through all the noise, select what to listen to, and boost your playlist game? Introducing MP3 SELECTS, our weekly rundown of new music releases and our updated playlists on Spotify. Check out this week’s round up below:

Daily Bread – “Snickerz”

Having risen as a grassroots star by opening up for Pretty Lights at Red Rocks back in 2017, Daily Bread is now surging to the forefront of the electronic music landscape. The Atlanta-based producer just released his eighth studio album, Invisible Cinema, which illustrates a vivid picture of Daily Bread’s signature style of funky trip-hop. While all 13 tracks are masterfully curated, “Snickerz” stands out as a key track on the album, toasting up a sonic palette of electro-soul and vintage samples, artfully blending into a surging bass track full of gritty hip-hop.

Daily Bread is coming off of a whirlwind of high-profile tour dates, including sets at Okeechobee Music Festival and Envision Festival. The producer will now head out on his first headlining tour this week to bring his Invisible Cinema live experience to fans, tapping Greg “Lazershark” Ellis for the tour’s lighting design. He’ll appear on dozens of stages through May, concluding with a celebratory show at Austin’s The Concourse Project with labelmates Late Night Radio, Michal Menert and Artifakts, among others.

Pure Colors – “Could There Be More”

As his first single release of 2023, Pure Colors lets us all know there is more than what meets the eye when it comes to his music. “Could There Be More” represents his biggest challenge to date as a producer, as Pure Colors fully composes and performs every element on the track. The result comes packaged in a synth-dominated glittering pop track packed full of steady bass grooves, intricate funk-fused organ chords, and syncopated drum rhythms.

Emalkay x The Others x Subscape – “Fade 2 Nothing”

What do you get when you combine dubstep legends Emalkay, The Others, and Subscape? An eight-track massive collaborative EP that continues to pave the way for vintage, classic bass. Making a home on the famed Deadbeats label, Flashpoint sees the three producers masterfully compose eight tracks of classic dubstep, finally seeing their long-time collaborations come to streaming platforms. The EP’s closing track “Fade 2 Nothing” blends beautifully composed piano drops and orchestral chords into a whirlwind of surging bass. Three-and-a-half minutes in, the three producers give way to showcase an emotive break of slow low-end synth and string composition before kicking it back up into a frenzied bass anthem.
