MP3 RISING: Introducing Cool Customer, Hamdi, ALLEYCVT, Zen Selekta, Levity, NOISES, & Øneheart
In MP3 RISING, we spotlight the emerging artists who are making waves in the music world. This month, we’re excited to introduce you to these talented individuals:
Cool Customer
Bringing a wave of energy and new soundscapes is a name many people are starting to recognize, Cool Customer. The tastemaker has already been gaining a lot of well-deserved traction, especially since his debut set at Secret Dreams last year. He has since supported artists like Detox Unit x Jade Cicada for their two night event in Denver last December, played Wobble Rocks, and recently sold out his debut headlining set at Cervantes in Denver earlier this month.

Hamdi
There was a time, not too long ago, when Hamdi was known as a burgeoning star in the UK garage and minimal dubstep scene. Now, his sound has transcended the globe, largely due to his massive viral hit, “Skanka,” which spawned dozens of remixes, both official and unofficial, and earned him multiple releases with Deadbeats, including a massive Zeds Dead collab. Oh, did I mention he has multiple tracks with Skrillex in the vault? Ya, this guy can’t be stopped.
But if you were introduced to Hamdi through his now-iconic “Skanka” sound, you’re in for a treat: his discography explores ever genre under the sun, and refuses to stand still. Sure, he’s capitalizing on his virality with a sound that remains similar to his breakout hit. When the entire dubstep community becomes influenced by your work, it’s hard not to. But, as always, his style is sure to evolve soon enough.

ALLEYCVT
In April 2022, ALLEYCVT came out with her first single, “ELECTRIC SHOCK.” Now, she’s traveling across the U.S. for shows and booking big-name festivals like EDC Las Vegas, Electric Zoo, and Lost Lands. The dubstep producer and singer has quickly caught people’s attention with her beautiful voice, songwriting skills, and dirty bass drops.
ALLEYCVT is the perfect example of how a strong social media presence can shift an artist’s rising career into high gear. She has nearly 140,000 followers on TikTok and uses her platform to give fans a behind-the-scenes look into how she makes her music. Ahead of the release of her new track, “BACK2LIFE,” she made a TikTok showing how she came up with the vocals and beats and it has amassed more than 540,000 views.

Zen Selekta
Coming into the scene as a fiery force, Zen Selekta has made herself and her music well known. The 140 queen has carved her own way into the community with her amazing production skills, stage presence, and energy that she is constantly bringing to the table.
Zen Selekta has taken her talent to festivals all over such as Sound Haven, Sonic Bloom, Lightning In A Bottle and is now making her way to The Caverns to play a Pretty Lights curated event. On top of that, she had one of the most infectious DEF sets we have seen so far as direct support for Hamdi in Atlanta, which is now available to view on DEFTV.

Her music brings an incredible energy that is undeniably contagious. In her most recent release, “Where I’m Going” she slows it down a little bit and brings the enchanting vibes back to bass music. Followed by mesmerizing lyrics and booming bass lines, it is most definitely one to add to your playlist.
Whether it is catching one of her shows or festival sets, or jamming to her new music, Zen Selekta is an artist to keep on your radar for the near future.

Levity
Levity has the infamous “it” factor that people so often associate with creative success — you can’t exactly put your finger on it, whatever “it” is, but you can definitely enjoy watching talented, good hearted kids turn a spontaneous opportunity into a monumental moment. Such is the case for Levity’s last-minute Electric Forest set earlier this year.
Levity’s viral Electric Forest performance, which has generated over five million views across TikTok and Instagram, is the physical embodiment of “luck is opportunity meets preparation.” After an abrupt cancellation at the Honeycomb stage, John Hauldren and Pj Carberry, two of three members in the Levity trio, were invited to fill in — and preceded to throw down an endless stream of bangers ranging from a Breezeblocks D&B flip to left-field bass bangers and even some more traditional, melodic EDM hits. Soon after, Deadbeats took notice and scooped up their experimental bass tune, “The Deep” for an official release earlier this month.

The trio is just getting started — their other recently-released single, a wavy future-bass track titled “Rising Tides” functions as a sneak-peak for Levity’s debut EP, releasing later this year.

NOISES
The latest signee to Zeds Dead’s ulterior house label, Altered States, NOISES makes the perfect party music for after-hours dance clubs and Miami sunrise sets at Club Space.
NOISES’ aesthetic is subtly nocturnal, with a melodic flair that turns the dancefloor upside down and keeps the disco ball spinning long after the party is over. Tracks like “WYA (Where Ya At)” also verge into light-hearted verses and trap house vibes that seem inspired by Channel Tres and Yaeji.
