KOAN Sound Unveils New Single & Announces Groundbreaking Concept Album ‘Led by Ancient Light’

From the heart of Bristol, UK, electronic music pioneers KOAN Sound have dropped their latest single “Liquid Levity” and announced an immersive new concept album, Led by Ancient Light, set for release in Fall 2023. The dynamic duo, comprised of Will Weeks and Jim Bastow, continues to captivate listeners with their innovative genre-blending compositions, bringing fresh perspectives to the world of electronic music.

With “Liquid Levity,” they lead the audience into a soundscape characterized by raw energy, mystery, and a deep sense of tranquility, a sonic experience complementing the narrative journey set by their prior release, “Ascension.” Their upcoming album, however, promises to transcend the norm. By interweaving a self-crafted narrative, organic instrumentation, and cinematic sound design, KOAN Sound takes their fans on an unprecedented adventure through an alien desert planet inhabited by ancient beings.

In an industry where originality and innovation are paramount, KOAN Sound’s concept album breaks the boundaries. Collaborating with esteemed audio engineer Jim Barr and recording at the iconic Studio Bell, Home of the National Music Centre in Calgary, Alberta, the duo has synthesized an intricate tapestry of storytelling and music.

KOAN Sound doesn’t stop at the sonic level. To complement their musical narrative, a graphic novella and a documentary will accompany the album, adding a tangible, visual dimension to their artistic endeavor. They’ve promised more exciting announcements to come, including an immersive live show that will mirror the epic and intimate facets of Led by Ancient Light.

Music and narrative have always been intertwined,” the duo shared. “We want the album to feel like an immersive journey that transports the listener into the narrative and sonic world that we constructed.”
