MP3 PREP: Sick New World brings Metallica & Linkin Park to Vegas
On April 12th for the third year in a row Sick New World will bring metal heads 80,000 strong to Las Vegas. This is the sister festival to When We Were Young, so you can be sure you to get all of the musical nostalgia you can handle.
T|Over the years, the festival has seen headliners including headlined by huge names like Korn, Slipknot, System of a Down and Deftones. In 2025 you’re going to be treated to Metallica, Evanescene, Gorija, AFI, Queens of the Stone Age and Cannibal Corpse. But the act everyone is talking about is the return of Linkin Park.
Linkin Park is back and playing Sick New World
After years of hiatus following the tragic passing of the lead singer Chester, Linkin Park returned with a new singer at the lead. Leading up to the announcement of the new singer, Emily Armstong, Linkin park released some tracks that sounded like classic throwbacks featuring never before heard vocals that Chester had recorded and never released. Since then they have been playing shows across the country with a brand new album under their belt.
Metallica is still running strong
If you are even slightly into rock music you have heard of Metallica. Starting in 1981, they pioneered the thrash metal scene in the San Francisco Bay Area. Metallica is one of the original influencing thrash metal bands known as The Big Four alongside Mega Death, Anthrax, and Slayer. In the modern era of music they are still selling out stadiums world wide and continuing to be a major influence in rock music.
3 tips to get the most out of Sick New World:
When trying to get the most out of this festival there’s things to know beforehand.
Tip 1: If you stay on the strip you will feel like you’re at the show the entire time. Metal heads sporting their favorite band tee will be filling every bar, restaurant and hotel
Tip 2: Show up early as possible. With so many attendees it can take some time getting into the venue safely. Getting there around doors you pretty much beat the line and get the most out of your money.
Tip 3: make a schedule on your phone once the official schedule is released. With multiple stages, and so many giant acts on the line up, there will for sure be some overlap. There is not much to do about it unfortunately, besides being prepared and knowing the line up that is most important to you before getting to the festival.
