MP3 SELECTS: Playlists & New Music from CloZee, Matt Fax, ODESZA & More

In the modern era, distribution services push out over 60,000 new tracks every single day. How do you cut through all the noise, select what to listen to, and boost your playlist game? Introducing MP3 SELECTS, our weekly rundown of new music releases and our updated playlists on Spotify. Check out this week’s round up below:

CloZee, Tripp St. – Odysseys”

French multi-talented artist and Odyzey Music label head CloZee has dropped her anticipated third album, Microworlds. Following a series of single releases leading up the momentous release, Microworlds transports listeners to imaginative, utopian places, which is illustrated through the album’s otherworldly and hyper-collective cover art. The third and final collaboration on the album taps Tripp St. for “Odysseys,” which oversees a dynamic piano-led intro that morphs into a kaleidoscopic sonic journey, summoning a euphoric and horn-sprinkled ending to the 12-track collection.

The album arrives ahead of the producer’s massive fall headline Microworlds Tour, set to kick off on September 28.

Matt Fax – “Somber”

French progressive house producer Matt Fax has unleashed his colossal new album, Story Of The Fall. Out via his own imprint Chromattic, the album is a feverish 15-track collection that underpins the producer’s work within the house and trance community. From the melodic rhythms of the album’s opener “Beyond Belief” to the reviving house reworkings of The Who’s “Behind Blue Eyes,” it’s a surging testament to Fax’s place within the electronic music scene and his artistic vision for over a decade. And yet, it’s the album’s second to last track “Somber” that truly caught our attention, trading harmonious synth work and feverish complex four on the floor rhythms for a hip-hop backed glitchy bass banger. It’s something a little different for the producer, and we’re here for it.

ODESZA, Yellow House, Preston.- “Waiting Forever”

I’m sorry, did someone say a new ODESZA EP? The iconic electronic music tandem did indeed drop their first EP in nearly a decade and it wraps us up in an indie electro-pop fever dream. Tapping Yellow House for all six new tracks, Flaws In Our Design blends a healthy dose of psychedelia with electronic pop elements while playing with funky backing rhythms and instrumental sound design. “Waiting Forever” has a playful, vintage touch to it as it intros with old vocal samples before it transitions into dreamy vocals and breakbeat rhythms. It’s giving hazy hot summer day vibes and it might just become a routine play-through for the rest of the dog days of summer.
