Pretty Lights’ ‘Check Your Vector’ Tour Touches Down in Lake Tahoe This Summer
In 2023, Derek Smith returned from a 5-year hiatus with a massively successful Pretty Lights tour dubbed The Soundship Spacesystem Tour.
In 2024, Pretty Lights and his bandmates are bringing a 2nd edition of the tour to the United States, stopping at iconic venues and locations that were missed in 2023.
Lake Tahoe is known for its crystal clear waters, majestic nature landscapes, and all around epic beauty. On September 6th and 7th, Lake Tahoe gets even prettier, thanks to Pretty Lights.
At Harvey’s Outdoor Arena, when the sun goes down the lights will go up. People from miles around will be traveling to this destination location to see and experience the brainchild of Derek Smith.
For those who are unfamiliar, Pretty Lights is an electroinc-leaning glitch-hop project led by Derek Smith. The live band also features legendary producers Michal Menert and Borahm Lee. Still, the Pretty Lights live show feels likelike a psychedelic jam experience.
Featuring live drums, vinyl scratching, improvised modular synthesis, and multiple people on keys, the live show has come a long way since the DJ sets of times past.
The tour announcement:
On May 7th Pretty Lights posted a cryptic message to their Facebook announcing a full nationwide tour:
“fire starter future sailors
looking back from tomorrow
we focus the light into the present
to transform ourselves into what we could never have imagined..
where are you going
inspect your vector
before you wreck your vector
and find alignment in the nebulous blossom of possibility”
At the same time, Pretty Lights posted a video on their Instagram announcing the tour and potentially teasing new music with fun uplifting lyrics that lead into smooth bassy goodness.
“Sunshine comin through, a rainbow colored sky. Paints pretty pictures in my mind”
