Toadface Drops Inventive Tides EP; Shares Immersive New Track, “Buoy” [Premiere]
Brilliant bass producer Toadface continues to impress, evolve and innovate, showcasing his latest brilliance on the brand new Tides EP. Working with NY Times writer Ian Urbina, the producer crafted the project that parallels Urbina’s urgent and dramatic book, The Outlaw Ocean Book, which details the crime and extralegal activity that goes on in international waters.
Tides officially hit DSP’s on Friday, May 7, and Toadface is Premiering the track “Buoy” with MP3 MAG today.
Toadface (real name Todd Holler) is an Atlanta-based producer by way of Ohio. Since 2014, he’s developed a niche amongst the bass and underground electronic scenes. The single follows Holler’s late 2020 EP, Gangrene, which drew acclaim and attention throughout the bass scene, particularly bangers like “Discovery.” As mentioned, the Tides EP is far more cinematic and intentional project, utilizing Holler’s imaginative sound design in epic, narrative-assisting ways.
“Buoy” opens with airy synths and subterranean noises that put the listener’s mind in an eery, surreal space. This shroud of sonic accents is cleared out at :45, where strings and warping basslines takeover for a far more bass-influenced approach. These unique sounds create a fun, inviting vibe for fans to get down to.
