Purple Disco Machine, Metronomy — “W.T.P”

Iconic disco-pop artist Purple Disco Machine has just dropped Paradise, a 15-track LP featuring the likes of Duke Dumont, Yung Bae, Roosevelt, The Magician, Kungs, Nile Rodgers, and other globally celebrated music acts. This sonic masterpiece is easily a candidate for album of the year.

Kicking off this legendary album is “W.T.P” a disco-infused collaboration with gifted multi-instrumentalist and producer Joseph Mount, better known under the moniker for his electronic pop and indie rock blending project, Metronomy. This tune is the most optimal way PDM could have kicked off Paradise. It is a time machine to the 80s, powered by funky synths, irresistible piano chords, retro sound effects, and lyrics that are guaranteed to play on repeat in your head, all glued together by a groove-filled bassline.

Maddy O’Neal — “Make You Feel”

Future bass queen, Maddy O’Neal, is back with a stunning, melodic dance track, “Make You Feel” which is equal parts surprising and groovy. O’Neal’s music always makes us feel something, and her latest track makes us feel… alive.

“Make You Feel” isn’t trying to break new ground, but it is pushing the boundaries of the sonic style we’ve come to expect from O’Neal. While the song’s buildup focuses on emotional, melodic synths and a quaint future bass vibe, the drop comes out of left field, packed with heavy energy and swirling rhythm.

Chris Lake, Disclosure — “in2minds”

What happens when two of dance music most acclaimed and influential artists team up for a dancefloor banger? You get Chris Lake and Disclosure’s electric new tune, “in2minds.” It’s a grimy, dance-focused banger that treads the line between house music and less traditional dance grooves seamlessly, and we can’t get enough of it.

“In2minds” isn’t what many might expect from a Chris Lake and Disclosure collab, but the track is all the better for its slightly experimental, club-oriented nature. You can clearly hear both artists influence on the track, mainly on the UK vocal chops layered throughout, and the fading synths marking each build up and drop, but it’s arranged in a way that refrains from being obvious. The result is a surprising genre-bender that will definitely turn the party up a notch.

Louis the Child, Drew Love — “Let You Go”

Louis the Child officially dropped their sophomore studio album last week, and it’s a wonderful return to form and callback to their earliest influences which paved their path to global stardom in the mid-2010s. The album, titled The Sun Comes Up is a joyous embrace of melodic, pop-adjacent tunes and hopeful sentiments, while maintaining their subtle experimental edge fans chase in every release. “Let You Go” is a particular standout.

“Let You Go” is a fast-paced liquid drum and bass track that’s driven by beautifully composed vocals by Drew Love, and glued together by chopping bass sounds and neo soul-inspired guitar riffs. From beginning to end, this one is fun, lighthearted, and soulful.
