Murge, Saundra Williams — “In Times Like These”

Canadian DJ and producer Murge has released the new track “In Times Like These,” tapping Daptone Records’ talent Saundra Williams. Within the track, tightly wound loops and arpeggios unravel into beautiful vistas, complemented by club-ready beats that enrich the instrumental’s textures. There is a wonderful juxtaposition between Murge’s electronic influences and organic found sounds, highlighting the beautiful humanity of Williams’ soul-drenched vocal lines. It’s a beautiful piece of music that will give you a little extra support in the times we find ourselves in.

Tycho, Cautious Clay — “Infinite Health”

Comprised of 9 songs, the album comes four years following the producer’s last full-length, original LP Simulcast back in 2020. Sharing the same name, “Infinite Health” sees the producer team up with Cautious Clay for a beautiful track full of swirling melodies and rolling sonic landscapes full of ethereal multi-dimensional audio tones.

Somatoast — “Virtue Signal”

Somatoast has released his first new single of the year, aptly named “Virtue Signal.” In a time where we hope to “inspire change in this world by having individuality contests on monopolized data-farming platforms,” Somatoast has produced a darkened and glitchy track that represents the worst side of all of us. As the first single off of his forthcoming album, “Virtue Signal” is full of eclectic bass and glitchy psybass elements that make your skin crawl, kinda like that of when you can see virtue signaling basically anytime you open up a social media app.

OMNOM, XKYLAR — “By Myself”

LA-based experimental house producer OMNOM has returned to Insomniac Records to deliver a hearty new dancefloor heater, “By Myself.” Featuring singer-songwriter and producer XKYLAR, “By Myself” oversees dark and rumbling grooves, whirring tones, swirling bleeps, and sub-bass snarls as the vocal lead turns down flirtatious advances in order to dance alone.

Layton Giordani — “Better Than U Thought”

With a decade of influential releases, New York City’s Layton Giordani has established himself as a leading figure in the techno scene. His newest track, “Better Than U Thought,” is a vocal-driven peak-time anthem, featuring a spellbinding hook that floats over driving basslines, sharp percussion, and whirring risers.

The song builds intensity with cooing harmonic accents, culminating in an acid-fueled resolution that leaves a lasting impression. Giordani’s refined production and innovative approach continue to push the boundaries of underground techno, clearly evident across “Better Than U Thought.”

CYRUS — “Worst Behaviour”

CYRUS’s “Worst Behaviour” emerges as a tech house anthem infused with festival-ready energy. The track’s verses are anchored by a catchy female vocal and commanding shouts, layered over a tightly gated synth line that draws listeners into a trance-like state.

When the drop hits, it transforms into a powerful force with heavy basslines, deep drums, gritty leads, and stuttered synth chops, all intensified by the return of the vocal shouts, creating a high-impact listening atmosphere.

Marco Rovere — “One way ticket”

Italian producer Marco Rovere delivers a captivating experience with his latest track, “One way ticket.” This release masterfully fuses the raw energy of techno with a modern twist, drawing listeners in with commanding basslines and relentless rhythms.

The track’s hypnotic and invigorating atmosphere is a testament to Rovere’s meticulous production, seamlessly blending elements of techno and house. The result is a sound that is both innovative and rooted in his artistic heritage, offering a dynamic journey for fans of electronic music.

Josh Teed, 9 Theory — “Letting It All Go”

Josh Teed has developed quite a reputation for his global, meditative bass music, which is often paired with beautiful violin parts and the occasional wind instrument. This time around, he paired up with 9 Theory to deliver an emotional, bass-forward ballad with “Letting It All Go.”

The new tune is a deep, melancholy journey that is equal parts hopeful and lost. The 6:29 runtime gives ample room for 9 Theory to explore feelings of willful determination, obvious frustration, and eventually peace in acceptance. The overall message is one of resilience, and the melodic undertones pair perfectly to create a real sense of self-discovery.

Louis The Child, Whethan, Hayley May — “Make You Mine”

“Make You Mine” is, at its core, a soulful dance pop track with club-ready energy. Louis The Child’s upbeat sound design and melodic tendencies are on full display here, paired with Whethan’s catchy, pop-leaning approach to dance music.

Of course, what really makes this song stand out is Hayley May’s fantastic vocal performance, which is as soulful as it is catchy. “Make You Mine” is the perfect summertime banger to round out 2024’s summer season, and a great taste of what’s to come on Louis The Child’s second album, The Sun Comes Up, out on September 20th.

Wax Motif, Truth x Lies, AK RENNY — “212”

“212” — inspired by New York City’s Manhattan area code —  is a club banger designed for Manhattan’s lively nightlife and club scene. It has every markings of a dancefloor heater, right down to the catchy hook, written and performed by AK RENNY.

The lyrics evoke a wild party atmosphere: “She come to the back to take the goose/taking all the shots, please hold the juice” will surely be playing at every pre-game east of the Mississippi this year. Plus, the plucky synth lead and thumping kick drum is the perfect backdrop to an all-night dance party.
