WHAT SO NOT ANNOUNCES NEW PROJECT & FORTHCOMING TOUR ‘I SAW A TRAP DJ AND IT CHANGED MY BIO CHEMISTRY’

Last week, genre-defining Australian producer and one of trap music’s earliest pioneers, What So Not officially launched a new creative era with the announcement of his forthcoming project and tour, ‘I SAW A TRAP DJ AND IT CHANGED MY BIO CHEMISTRY’.

The project launch arrives as both a personal reflection and a broader reexamination of the trap and bass music era that transformed global dance culture throughout the 2010s. Long regarded as one of the defining producers behind the rise of cinematic trap and forward-thinking bass music, What So Not helped pioneer a sound that reshaped festival stages, internet music culture, radio programming, and electronic music’s crossover into the mainstream.

Drawing inspiration from early SoundCloud culture, formative collaborations, and the explosion of globally influential trap and bass music, the project revisits the emotional DNA of that era through a modern lens – combining the unpredictability of early trap music with years of experimentation across drum & bass, analog production, cinematic songwriting, and global rhythmic influence.

Alongside the project rollout, What So Not will embark on the I SAW A TRAP DJ AND IT CHANGED MY BIO CHEMISTRY U.S. Tour a limited run of intimate club shows and select festival appearances designed to reconnect audiences with the raw energy and closeness of the early trap and bass era. Stops include Denver’s Club Vinyl, Portland’s 45 East, Las Vegas’ Substance, and Marquee NY, alongside festival appearances at Das Energi and Lost In Dreams.

“For a long time I found myself running away from a sound I helped create. In my journey to always do the ‘next’ thing, I think I neglected my thing. This project comes from finally reconnecting with that energy – not to recreate the past, but to understand why it resonated so deeply in the first place.”

“I feel like I’m finally writing the music everybody wants from me – but on my own terms, on my own time, with the tools of a lifetime chasing ‘what’s next’.” – What So Not
