MP3 SELECTS : Playlists & New Music from NERO, The Floozies, NotLö & More
In the modern era, distribution services push out over 60,000 new tracks every single day. How do you cut through all the noise, select what to listen to, and boost your playlist game? Introducing MP3 SELECTS, our weekly rundown of new EDM music and our updated playlists on Spotify. Check out this week’s round up below:
NERO — “Truth”
“Truth” is, essentially, mid-tempo techno for a darker realm, guided by ominous vocals that question the threads of reality. What is “truth”? NERO doesn’t have the answers, but he does have bangers.
Imagine a techno rave in an abandoned hospital. That’s what “Truth” sounds like; it’s spooky, thrilling, and definitely dark. It’s a perfect track to add to the Halloween playlist, although you might scare some innocent trick-or-treaters if you’re not careful. Not sure the kids are quite ready for this one…

NotLö — “Voices”
NotLö has a reputation for her spooky aesthetic and deep, dark, underground sound. And that’s exactly what she brings on “Voices,” a track from her recently-released Night Terrors EP.
The entire Night Terrors project is an ode to the Halloween spirit; it’s music that exists in the underworld, like rave music for the undead. “Voices” is a great example, although a slight deviation from NotLö’s bass-focused sound in exchange for grimy drum and bass.

ford., Ivy Lab — “EVERYTHINGSALRIGHT (IVY LAB REMIX)”
You never know what to expect with a new Ivy Lab track. Sometimes, it’s dubstep. Othertimes, its’ low-fi, melodic sound experiments. Then, there’s “EVERYTHINGSALRIGHT (IVY LAB REMIX),” the North London-duo’s latest remix for ford. This one is as left-field as it gets. It’s definitely not dubstep, nor is it low-fi. Whatever it is, it’s a strange one.
The track has a decent rhythm, but it’s much more glitch-heavy, like an overheating computer dosed with LSD. It sounds like if G Jones and Eprom had a baby, which was then raised by a rogue AI programmed for world domination.

The Floozies, Gibbz, MZG — “Denim”
“Denim” is the Floozies x MZG collab we didn’t know we needed, but we’re happy it exists. It has the sort of funky vocals and slightly psychedelic grooves The Floozies are known for, combined with the bass-forward flair of MZG’s signature sound. Gibbz soulful indie tint is also abundantly clear.
The track dropped just in time for MZG’s Hulaween performances, which included a diverse set of bass bangers and house music at the Spirit Lake stage, plus multiple after hours renegade sets. So of course we had to feature them in our special Hulaween 2023 issue.

But The Floozies and MZG aren’t done collaborating yet: the two musical duos also just announced they’ll be sharing a stage at the Mission Ballroom in Denver, Colorado, in March 2024. Public presale begins this Friday, November 3. Purchase tickets here.

Example, Moss — “Strictly 4 Tha”
Pioneers in their respective genres, Example and Moss unite to present their groundbreaking single, “Strictly 4 Tha.” Released via Monstercat Uncaged, this track perfectly bridges underground raves and mainstage anthems. It kicks off with a compelling drumbeat, setting the stage for Example’s magnetic vocals, while a captivating chorus delivers an electrifying bassline that will set dancefloors ablaze. What’s truly distinctive is that Example himself created the graffiti-style cover art, showcasing his artistic talents beyond music.
