Justice — “The End”
Justice has been served. As in, the duo has released its highly anticipated first new album in eight years, Hyperdrama. If the name hints at all to its collection, it’s that the duo have tastefully dramatized its French house music sound, dosing fans with 13 tracks of accented synth-washed beats and euphoric sound design. While it was hard to pick a specific track to highlight, we found the album’s final track aptly named “The End” showcase the duo’s cinematic and futuristic sound textures alongside Thundercat’s sultry funk-fused vocals.

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong — “Skinner”
In case you missed it, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong released their seventh studio album, Day In Time, over the weekend and it’s nothing short of spectacular. This album does just that. Day In Time sees the Baltimore-based quartet move through 12 vibrant psychedelic groove tunes, reminding the band’s fanbase community – The Flock – of the never ending sweeping time of life; to make the most of each day and make each second count.
Collaborating with Chalk Dinosaur, “Skinner” is the only full-length instrumental track on the LP next to the 35-second “Yesterday In Time,” allowing listeners to dive head first into the band’s deep end of psychedelic trance grooves.

Chris Lake, Sammy Virji — “Summertime Blues (feat. Nathan Nicholson)”
A Chris Lake co-sign is not something to take lightly. And, given Sammy Virji’s rapid rise to stardom throughout 2023, it’s a co-sign that’s well-deserved. Their new track, “Summertime Blues (feat. Nathan Nicholson)” is a garage banger, through and through.
To be honest, “Summertime Blues” is much more inline with Virji’s UKG and bassline influence than Chris Lake’s party-house anthems, although the vocal melodies, expertly delivered by Nathan Nicholson, have Chris Lake’s influence written all over. It’s a healthy balance of sweet, melodic touches, and bouncy UKG rhythms that come together beautifully for a new summertime classic that we’ll surely be hearing at festivals across the world all season long.
