MP3 SELECTS: Playlists + New Music from SOHMI, Mfinity, Greta Van Fleet & More

In the modern era, distribution services push out over 60,000 new tracks every single day. How do you cut through all the noise, select what to listen to, and boost your playlist game? Introducing MP3 SELECTS, our weekly rundown of new music releases and our updated playlists on Spotify. Check out this week’s round up below:

SOHMI – “Recital”

Rounding out the final addition to the Korean-American producer’s anticipated Recital EP, the titular track is an edgy dance-pop cut filled with swirling vocal accents and entrancing celestial tones. Making her debut four-track EP, SOHMI places herself off among the rest of constantly evolving electronic community as she uses her harmonious blend of vocals and self-pioneered “minimal pop-tech” sound production to touch on themes of escapism and metamorphism. The resulting ending track makes listeners feel like they’re in a dream full of enchanting humming and beat-driven rhythms.

She’ll be gracing the biggest stages this upcoming festival season, including Coachella, Regenerate Festival, Sundream Festival, and Shambhala.

Mfinity – “Sugarcreek”

Making his debut on CloZee’s Odyzey label, Mfinity is here to break up the barriers between nature and technology. His Off Path EP showcases his unique blend of organic sound design as he transitions through pulsing basslines and intricate beat patterns. Appearing second on the EP is “Sugarcreek,” where the producer joins the peaceful and meditative sounds of the woods with more defined bass and analog composition. If you find yourself straying off the path for a bit, Mfinity’s sound design will surely bring you back.

Greta Van Fleet – “Meeting The Master”

For all of you that are sad you never got to see Led Zeppelin in concert, no need to fear. At first listen, you may hear a song and think it was an old Zeppelin tune that you didn’t know. Believe it or not, it’s Greta Van Fleet. The Grammy award-winning rock band continues to embody the spirit of the 1970s rock and roll era with their highly-anticipated third studio album, Starcatcher. The group gives fans a sneak peek before the 10-track collection comes out on July 21st with “Meeting The Master,” taking listeners on an exotic spiritual journey through psychedelia, peering into an esoteric world heeded by the word of a wise teacher. Leading up to the album’s release date, the group will making headlining appearances throughout this summer’s festival’s circuit, including Shaky Knees Festival, Beale Street Music Festival, and Sea Hear Now.

Bannie – “I Got The Feeling”

Bannie, one-half of Night Tales, has stepped out with a new solo project and debut single, “I’ve Got The Feeling,” via Broke and premiering on House Nation. Originally from the UK, Bannie’s diagnosis with ulcerative colitis in 2009 ultimately drove him deeper into music and a place to call home in Sydney, Australia. Now residing in Los Angeles, Bannie has already established himself as an electronic act bridging the gap between urban culture and electronica in Night Tales.
